& B Race Cars 2009 Customer News Archive| |
B & B 2009 Wrap Up Whew what
a year 2009 has been, and it's just about over! We've had so much going on here
at B & B it's been hard to find time to sit down, but we finally managed to
find a few minutes for an update. Check out what's in the
shop now... In the paint shop we have a Wescott Powered
68 Cuda and a 2010 Challenger both getting ready to receive new Scott Brown Paint
Designs. In the shop pictures above you'll see a Super Stock G5 getting ready
for paint, a 2009 SS Mustang under assembly, and a 1994 Street Mustang with new
suspension by PA Racing getting installed with a new roll cage. Both of the Mustangs
will be Bennet Powered. The bright yellow 2010 Camaro is
Don Baskins new NMCA Pro Stock ride which will be powered by a Bishoff Racing
engine and shifted with a Liberty 5 Speed - bet that will be fun to row the gears
in! In case you're wondering, it won't be yellow for too much longer, the New
Camaro will receive Baskin's traditional Candy Orange paint job once we finish
up the suspension. For those that don't know him, Don Baskin was the 2009 NMCA
Mean Street champion in his Chevy II and he'll be campaigning both cars in 2010. The
other white Challenger in the shop belongs to Jeff Tueton, it's getting a cage
and suspension work done. There are two Chevy II's patiently waiting in line for
some work, and 2 Cobalt/G5's that are on the Jig and looking for a new home. Out
in the driveway is Lindsey's 1994 Cutlass getting ready to go back home to Montgomery,
Alabama. 2010 is going to start off with a bang for us!
in January we'll have three Body in White 2010 Cobra Mustangs and three to five
BIW 2010 Challengers rolling in the door, we're very thankful to be chosen by
so many as their Chassis Builders of choice! Another great
year has come and gone at B&B Race Cars. We thank you for your business and friendship.
We look forward to an even more exciting 2010 season! Darren
and Anne Breaud | | | October
Update
Whew!! - The Month of October has been flying by here
at B & B Race Cars! A lot has happened around the shop and we've
been having a great time at the race track!!! Holly
Springs Shootout - B & B Race Cars customer Paul Soliz, aka "Pablo",
won in Limited Street with a 4.72 powered by a Bennett motor and the Pressurized
Solution's Team doing the tuning. Darren in the B & B GTO powered also by
a Bennett Motor runnered up - that's the first final round for the new car! Jeff
Cooner had some mechanical problems that kept him out of the show, but he'll get
that fixed real soon.We were sorry to see Tommy Rainer and Matt Giblin wreck but
glad they were unhurt. ORSCA Huntsville Shootout
- B & B Built Cars were flying! Jeff Cooner set a new record of 4.57 in Limited
Street!! Darren recorded a 1.10 60' in the GTO making some jaws drop - that's
on a True Ten Five tire for those of you that aren't familiar with Limited Street
rules. Unfortunately the tuneup on the B & B GTO was a bit to aggressive and
we nipped some plugs taking Darren out of the race early. IHRA
- Bryon Latino won a Best Engineered Award at Rockingham. Congrat's Brian! NHRA
- At the NHRA Dutch Classic in Pennsylvania Gary Richard won Super Stock and Norm
Hall runnered up! Both cars are B & B built and are Tillburg powered.
The
Gary Richards Team received a Best Appearing award at Atco, NJ. at the Spring
Race Make Up. Congratulations Gary - that's a mighty fine stable of cars you have
there! In the Shop - Talk about Busy, Busy, Busy!
But that's the way we like it! Here at the end of October we've got 13 cars in
the shop. We are finishing the 2nd car for Anthony Bongiovanni, a 2009 SS Mustang,
mounting the motor in Lil' Nasty for Paul Barham, painting the Cuda for Lloyd
Wofford, painting a Top Sportsman Oldsmobile, and have 3 Chevy II's being worked
on for street cars. On the other side of the shop, there are two 2010 Drag Pack
Challenger Stockers, a Super Stock G5, a 2010 Body in White Camaro for a special
project, two more 2010 Cobras and a slew of other projects in the works. We've
also got a Cobalt on the jig that hasn't been spoken for yet - it you want a head
start on a new Cobalt for Super Stock, Limited or True Ten Five or other classes
- give us a call and you can claim this one! Happy Halloween!! | | | Louisiana
Outlaw Street Nationals
September 26th we loaded up and went
down south to State Capitol Raceway in Erwinville, Louisiana for the Louisiana
Outlaw Street Nationals - back to our old stomping grounds! B & B
Customers Randy Sharpston and Jeff Cooner took the Purple Beast of a Mustang,
David Reese brought his Big Bad Blown Mustang, Derrick Fannin from Pressurized
Solutions and Darren and Anne took the B & B Nitrous GTO to run in the Outlaw
Limited Street Class. After over 8 hrs of hauling in the rain it appeared the
only place in the state it wasn't raining was right at the track! It
was some great times seeing old friends, and great eating too (we cooked up a
boatload of shrimp and catfish!). The race went off with a huge crowd count despite
it raining everywhere - except at the race track! B & B chipped in to sponsor
the 4.70 bounty in Limited Street, but nobody was able to claim it on this day. In
Outlaw Limited Street Jeff Cooner took Randy Sharpston's Purple Beast all the
way to the winner's circle clocking a best of 4.82 despite less than optimal conditions
and air! Unfortunately Darren had a brain fart and forgot to turn the nitrous
on ending his day early on a bye run on his way to the finals - but he wasn't
the only one with an off day. David Reese had problems with his blow off valve
also, but those things happen. It wasn't a waste of time though as some valuable
data was gathered from all the cars. Reese's Procharged F3 Big Block combo is
proving it's going to be a MONSTER and bad ass fast. David says he's got
the bugs all worked out and watch out next week, it's tuned and ready to go... In
the Pro Street Class we were excited to see NMCA Racer Dave Beeson take the win
driving one of the 1st B & B cars built in Louisiana! Congratulations Dave! All
in all we had a wonderful time, got to see family, old friends and customers!
That's hard to beat... We look forward to this Series to be put on next year! More
Racing News We also learned that Justin Jenkins won
a NHRA Division 5 Div Race in Earlville, IA a couple weeks ago! Congratulations
Justin!!! It's been crazy busy once we arrived back home
to the shop. Jim Cowan from JMC Race Jacks picked up his new 70 1/2 Cynergy Camaro.
He's going to run Top Sportsman and maybe some ADRL races with it. We're
also getting a huge flood of quote requests for new cars to be ready for the 2010
season right now. If you want to go racing at the first of the 2010 season, get
your order & deposit in now to hold your place in line! B
& B Race Cars will be at Huntsville, AL next weekend, then the following weekend
at Atlanta, then on to Montgomery in November. Stop by and see us in the pits
and say hello! | | | September
Racing News Bowling
Green B
& B Customers were out in force at Bowling Green! Both Darren and Anne had a great
time seeing everyone again and watching some great performances from our customers!
Adam Hickey in his 06 Cobalt was #1 Qualifier in Competition
Eliminator. Adam went 8.215 in C/SMA 8.81 Index, -.0595 for the top seat! He made
through 4 tough rounds before he got taken out of eliminations. Also in Comp,
Darren qualified #22 with a 8.539, -0.431 under the 8.97 index.
In Super Stock James Caro qualified #1 with a 8.378 in SS/BM, -1.272 under the
8.378 index! John Coughlin also qualified well, he was the #6 qualifier in SS/CM
and went 8.609, -1.191 under the index. J.W. Hames qualified #14 in his recently
rebuilt 89 Daytona and Cliff Reigle was out and qualified #73 in his 68 Camaro.
It was really great seeing so many of our customers cars qualifying well out of
103 cars! In eliminations John Coughlin made it to Round 4 and James Caro made
it to Round 3! Indy US Nationals Indy is the BIG
race of the year and B & B Customers were there making waves. We
had a great weekend, all of our customers cars qualified well except Darren's
who qualified #61. We worked hard on it, Darren did his job driving cutting a
.012 in the first round but didn't take the win, we think it might be the transmission
acting up. After going out early we were disappointed, but seeing old customers
and racing Comp for PC Richard was a great experience and was great for business!
In other news, Sean Cour and Bo Kenney were put out of
the race by NHRA and it was a real shame! To quote Darren it was for "Bullshit"
reasons, but what can you do - as Bo says it's NHRA's way or the highway... James
Caro ran SS/BM and qualified #1 in the 05 Stratus with a 8.23 on a 9.65 index
(-1.413), Latino ran SS/BS and Qualified #43 running 8.804 on a 9.95 index (-1.146),
Richards ran GT/AA, Cours ran GT/AA and runnered up Class. Peter Biondo ran SS/BS
running a car for Arnie Martel and qualified #22. Jimbo Fields ran SS/DM running
a 07 Cobalt for Glenn Young and went to round 4! Bo Kenney ran GT/BA and would
have qualified top sheet if it wasn't for the problems he ran into. Take
a look at our Indy and Bowling Green Photo Album's by clicking the pictures above
for some shots from the races! To our our customers at Indy, it was great to see
everyone again, we're looking forward to next year! | | | Latino
Wins Texas Division 4
Bryon Latino in his 2009 B &
B GTO qualified #1 in Super Stock (1.152 under the index) at the Dallas Raceway's
IHRA Division 4 race. He runnered up on Saturday, then took home the win and a
Ironman in Super Stock on Sunday! That win sealed the IHRA
Division 4 points championship !!! Congratulations Bryon!!!

Dave and Darren Smith just picked up their rebuilt SS/GA 68 Dart. They brought
the car in back in May to repair the damage from a pit accident and to get a number
of updates. She's as good as new now and ready to race! The Smith's did
some testing on their car at I-22 in Eldridge, Alabama last weekend during a Limited
Street Outlaw Race that we sponsored. The Dart worked real well and they loved
the Outlaw Scene! Darren's Limited Street GTO did ok...motor is still good
and we're making progress! We always enjoy racing and seeing our friends at the
track. Surprise, Surprise, we also ran into old friend Jon Bennett at I-22, he
said it was the first time in 9 years for him to be back at a track! Wow - Talk
about withdrawal symptoms! It was good to see him and his son there!!! | | | Anthony
Bongiovanni, Owner of Micro Strategies in Denville, New Jersey picked up the first
of his two Mustangs to get built at B & B. The first one is a NHRA Stocker
and his second car will be a matching Super Stock with a Cobra Jet engine. Both
these cars were completely rebuilt from the ground up. Also in the shop
right now we are working on Bongiovanni's Super Stocker, a Cuda, a Cavalier Super
Stocker, a cool Corvette, upgrades on a Pro Stock GTO, Jimmy Cowan's Top Sportsman
70.5 Camaro, and we're fixing Mike Jones Limited Street car that got into the
wall last weekend at I-22. We're keeping busy and things are good at B & B!

Huntsville
ORSCA Limited Street It was a pleasure watching our
customers running hard at ORSCA's race in Huntsville, Alabama last weekend. In
Limited Street, Jeff Cooner qualified #3, then he runnered up against Keith Szabo,
4.9082 to 4.8962 - Margin of Victory .0002! Wow talk about a close race!
Jeff had B & B do some major repairs and updates to his Mustang that were finished
up a couple weeks ago and the Huntsville race is the second time out for it! Not
only did he runner up, but Jeff was also the #3 qualifier and ran a best ET of
4.79. Chris Daniels was also at Huntsville competing in
his new orange Camaro that B & B finished earlier this year. Daniels
762 Fulton engine and B & B Chassis helped him grab the #2 qualifying position
on a mild tune up. Daniels recorded consistent 1.19/1.20 60' times, 3.21 to the
330' and a best pass of the day of 4.78! Unfortunately Chris ended his day early
when he didn't get the steering wheel locked during the second round of eliminations
which caused him obvious problems. You can bet he'll be double checking that in
the future! Our third customer at Huntsville was Mike Jones
who was running in Limited Street. B & B has been helping Mike with
his car setup and he's starting to see some good results. Mike made it to the
semifinals, and he was the ORSCA Limited Street Runner Up two weeks ago. Congratulations
to all three competitors, we loved getting to see everyone race and do so well! Mopar
Mile High NHRA Nationals After 6 rounds of competition,
Justin Lamb defeated Tim Nicholson for the win in Super Stock! Team Caro/Stancil
also made it to the semi-final round! Congratulations guys! New
70.5 Cynergy Body Arrives! Jimmy
Cowan, owner of JMC Race Jacks from Indiana is having us build him a new Top Sportsman
using the new 70.5 Cynergy body. We just got the body in the shop and man does
it look cool!!! Stay tuned for more pictures of the new car during the build process,
We think it's going to look great with this awesome body. While Jimmy's new Camaro
is primarily being built for Top Sportsman, You just might see this car competing
in ADRL Pro Nitrous in the future!
Henrik
Serrano from Norway also used a Cynergy body on his 1st gen Camaro which was completed
earlier this year. Both body styles look very cool when finished!
If
you've been thinking about getting a new state of the art Top Sportsman, Pro Mod
or ADRL Xtreme 10.5 car, B & B is now taking orders for builds to be completed
in late fall and the 2010 season. B & B

In a stroke of bad luck, someone smacked right into Dave and Darren Smith's SS/GA

RACING TAKES DELIVERY OF NEW 68 CAMARO COMP ELIMINATOR

week to pick up their new 68 Camaro Comp Eliminator. They've officially got the
B & B Long Haul Award since the traveled over 4200 miles from home! The Serrano

from TRE prior to shipping the Camaro overseas.
The Team
is having their new car shipped back to Norway in their new 2009 Haulmark Trailer
that Anne from B & B won on ORSCA's web site. The trailer was a fund raising effort
to help racer Josh McClelland that was injured in a wreck at Bradenton. It was
sponsored by Cooper Trailer Sales out of Vidalia, Ga. What a great way to return
to Europe! It was really a pleasure working with the team
at the shop and Darren is looking forward to traveling to Sweden in July to help
with setup and chassis adjustments. Follow the Team at

B & B Race Cars and construction has begun. The Cynergy Composite Body just
